Documented fullscreen issues
Mojang's release notes identify two known issues involving Exclusive Fullscreen:
- Entering Exclusive Fullscreen on Wayland crashes the game.
- On Windows, Exclusive Fullscreen may cause crashes in certain situations, especially when multiple monitors are connected.
The snapshot makes Borderless Fullscreen the default. It also allows switching between Borderless and Exclusive Fullscreen without restarting the game. Players affected by the documented crashes should therefore use Borderless Fullscreen and avoid entering Exclusive Fullscreen.
On Linux, the game now prefers native Wayland when it is available. On macOS, Exclusive Fullscreen is no longer supported.
Protect your worlds
Snapshot 4 is a Minecraft Java Edition testing build. Mojang warns that testing versions can corrupt worlds and recommends backing them up or running the snapshot in a folder separate from main worlds.

Bottom line
Use Borderless Fullscreen when testing Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 4. It is the default mode, switching to it does not require a restart, and it avoids entering the Exclusive Fullscreen mode associated with the documented Wayland and Windows crash risks.
