Profiles, mods and modpacks

Modrinth App organizes Minecraft profiles and lets users install, remove and update supported mods. It can also install and share modpacks drawn from the Modrinth ecosystem.

Direct website integration makes it convenient to move from a project page to a managed profile. Compatibility still depends on Minecraft version, mod loader and dependencies, so automatic availability should not be mistaken for universal compatibility.

Official platform downloads

The first-party app page provides downloads for Windows and macOS. On Linux it points users to Flathub and also lists AppImage, DEB and RPM alternatives for people who understand those packaging formats.

The same page warns that Linux builds can have issues on certain systems and configurations. Modrinth itself suggests trying another app such as Prism Launcher when instability persists, so a guide should not hide this limitation.

1. Open the Modrinth app page

   Use modrinth.com/app rather than a mirror or an advertisement using the Modrinth name.

2. Select the supported package

   Choose the normal option for your operating system and record the package source for future updates.

3. Create or import a profile

   Test a clean profile before importing an existing modded setup with valuable worlds.

Open-source project identity

Modrinth publishes the web interface and desktop app in the modrinth/code monorepo. The repository identifies itself as the primary codebase and links to the official app download and support pages.

A public repository does not make every recompiled package official. Use Rinth or Modrinth controlled channels when you want the first-party build, and verify the publisher before approving an operating system prompt.

Importing and updating profiles safely

The app can import profiles from other launchers, which is useful when moving an existing pack. Preserve a separate backup until the imported instance launches and its worlds, resource packs and settings have been checked.

Before updating several mods at once, review version and loader filters. When troubleshooting, change one layer at a time and keep the game log so that missing dependencies or incompatible files can be identified.

Authentication and offline mode

Modrinth App supports Minecraft account sign-in and can play managed content offline after the required local authorization and files exist. Offline mode is a continuity feature, not a way to create an entitlement.

The official page states that Modrinth App is not an official Minecraft service and is not approved by Mojang or Microsoft. Use a legitimate Microsoft account and do not provide credentials to a third-party mirror.
