ATLauncher download and installation guide

Download ATLauncher from its upstream project and use separate instances for Minecraft Java modpacks from supported catalogs.

ATLauncher is an open-source Minecraft Java launcher designed to install and manage modpacks and custom instances. Its official site integrates its own pack catalog with supported external platforms, while its help policy explicitly rejects piracy.

01

Launcher and modpack scope

ATLauncher can create Minecraft instances and browse packs from its own catalog as well as supported services such as CurseForge, Modrinth and Technic. Availability can change according to the provider and pack author.

Its role is to assemble and start legitimate Minecraft installations. It does not transfer ownership of Minecraft, paid content or third-party files whose authors have restricted distribution.

02

Pick the correct installer

The official download page provides a Windows setup and portable build, a macOS application, Linux packages and a cross-platform JAR. Select the format whose maintenance model you understand.

The Windows setup is recommended upstream and can provide the required Java versions. Portable and JAR users must place the launcher in a dedicated writable folder rather than running it indefinitely from Downloads.

  1. Visit the official page

Open atlauncher.com/downloads and choose the block for your operating system.

  2. Use a dedicated location

Keep portable or JAR files in their own folder so launcher data is not scattered or removed accidentally.

  3. Complete account setup

Add the Microsoft account that holds the valid Minecraft license, then create an instance.

03

Source code and authentic releases

The upstream source is the ATLauncher/ATLauncher repository on GitHub and is licensed under GPL 3.0. That repository links back to atlauncher.com and contains the public project history.

A fork may compile the code but cannot automatically claim the official CDN, assets, account client identity or ATLauncher branding. For normal installation, use the website and repository maintained by the ATLauncher team.

04

Build a stable instance workflow

Test the selected pack once before importing an important world. Keep a separate clean instance available so you can tell whether a failure belongs to the launcher, Java, a loader or the pack itself.

When updating, read the pack notes and export or copy worlds, configuration and any personal additions. A launcher can automate file placement but cannot guarantee that a modpack update preserves every world or setting.

05

Account safety and mirror risks

ATLauncher supports legitimate Mojang and Microsoft account flows, including entitled Game Pass accounts described by the project. Its help pages state that piracy is not supported.

Do not use a mirror that bundles an account, removes authentication or advertises premium Minecraft for free. Never type a Microsoft password into an unrelated webpage presented by an installer.

Questions

Do I need to install Java before ATLauncher?

The recommended Windows setup can install the required Java versions. Other package formats may rely on their documented Java setup.

Is ATLauncher open source?

Yes. The official ATLauncher/ATLauncher repository publishes the launcher under GPL 3.0. Project CDN files, assets and service credentials are separate.

Does ATLauncher provide a free Minecraft account?

No. The project does not support piracy. Full authenticated play requires an account with a valid Minecraft entitlement.
